Introducing the newest and greatest (lol) blog for all your entertainment review needs, with an emphasis on all things gaming.
Let the introductions begin:
Adam PortsmouthFirstly, I go by the name of Adam Portsmouth in person, and captainswing1 on my console of choice, the Xbox 360. Despite owning all current gen consoles, the community and controller I feel are second to none on the Xbox 360. I will however always have a special place in my heart for Nintendo, with their loveable characters and the impact they have had on the industry. Some loss of faith in the company must be admitted with the release of the Wii and its new focus on the 'casual gamer', but titles such as Mario Galaxy and the recent blockbuster that is 'Skyward Sword' still show that Nintendo is always at the forefront of the gaming industry when it comes to first party exclusives. Their recent support for the 3DS also makes me believe that the Wii U (still holding out for a renaming) will be a success and I cannot wait to see what they show off at E3.
I am currently playing Prototype 2 and aiming to make it my first 100% game (I have tried this with many games but I always get distracted by a new release). All time favourite games would have to include the Halo series, Donkey Kong 64 (would love a remake Nintendo), and GTA Vice City.
My fondest gaming memory would have to be watching in awe while my Dad played the original Half Life, and wondering how graphics in a game could ever look better, an opinion which has now been completely blown out of the water by both current gen offerings as well as teases into what the future holds.
Game reviews from me will tend to be from the Western RPG, shooting and action genres, but I dabble in other areas when a game looks particularly appealing.
Will LyonsHey guys, my name is Will Lyons, aka GangstaWillis on Xbox Live. I too am the proud owner of all current gen consoles, although it's safe to say that the only one in use frequently is my 360, simply through preference to the online capabilities, more appealing exclusives, and general sexiness of the interface. It seems like only yesterday when my dad introduced me to the wonders of gaming, on such memorable titles as Super Mario All-Stars and Street Fighter II Turbo on the SNES, along with a smattering of Master System games that, at the time, seemed to be an amazing feat of technological prowess (how i laugh at that thought now). I soon immersed myself in the medium, spending as much money as i could to expand my collection. While their reputation has somewhat declined over recent years, my first love was for Nintendo, especially A Link to the Past on the SNES, meaning I often forgive the company for their lacklustre presence these past few years. I'm also a big lover of all things television and movies, a love affair that has been made even stronger over time, as my tastes, like a fine wine, have matured to appreciate many different genres.
I'm currently spending my time split between SSX on the 360, and the original Prototype, a game which i overlooked at launch, but am proud to say has kept me entertained as I played through the (admittedly short) campaign.
My all-time favourites have to be Ocarina of Time, a game I have completed numerous times since its release 14 years ago; Metal Gear Solid 3, and anything Halo related (apart from Wars).
My reviews will focus mostly on Adventure, FPS and fighting games, but that isn't to say i won't stray from these genres when a game piques my interest, no matter the style of gameplay. I will also be reviewing select television series as each episode airs, a passion of mine that needs an outlet, as well as select movie reviews, of both past and present titles! Also, be on the lookout for opinion pieces on a broad spectrum of subjects within gaming and entertainment, as I hope they become a staple of this site.
